Trial Preparation for Plaintiff Firms 201 (TPP 201)

March 14, 2009
Instructor: Dee Rogers, Webster & Association

Course Pre-requisite: Trial Preparation for Plaintiff Firms 101 (TPP 101)

SFU Harbour Center (View Map)
515 W. Hastings St., Vancouver, BC
(Room number to be posted at main entrance)

Trial Preparation for Plaintiff Firms 201 will pick up where the introductory course left off.  We will examine various aspects of trial preparation and discuss (no names please!)  how the skills acquired in the introductory course have contributed to your trial preparations.

We will examine the role of pre-trial conferences, the List of Witnesses and Time Estimate form and the requirement that any Rule 18A applications must be brought at least 45 days in advance of trial.  We will see where these fit into
“the flow chart” and tactics for using them to your client's advantage.

This intermediate level course will use the skills and knowledge attained in the introductory course as building blocks for more subtle applications of the Rules of Court and examine procedures not utilized in every case, such as Rule 28 applications and depositions.  The topic of Costs will also be introduced and we will review the new Rule 37B.

Each session offers:

  • an interactive class providing thought provoking discussion;
  • a limit of 15 participants, to ensure optimum learning;
  • a Desk Reference Manual, including useful checklists.
