Drafting Family Applications Workshop 101 (DFAW 101)

Description:
A chambers application is made for a myriad of reasons including when something that should have been done or provided has not yet been provided and you need to compel the other party to comply with the request. This includes requests for documents, examinations for discovery, further particulars and anything else that might be needed to move the litigation forward. Applications can also provide interim relief against a party pending final determination of an issue at trial. This workshop was designed to provide you with an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of effective drafting.

A review of the rules relevant to drafting application materials, as well as using fact patterns provided to you as part of your in-class and post-course work, you will have opportunities to draft Notices of Applications, Affidavits, Responses to Applications, Requisitions and Orders.

CPD: 7.0 hours with 0.0 PRE hours for professional responsibility and ethics.

Each full day session offers:

  • an interactive class providing hands-on practice;
  • a limit of 14 participants, to ensure optimum learning;
  • a Desk Reference Manual, including useful checklists.
