Professional Development Course:

Aboriginals as SRLs (ACL ABO 101)

Facilitated by Karim Ramji, counsel Donovan and Co.

Description:

Aboriginal People as self-represented litigants pose a more complex challenge for both the court and opposing counsel. Generally self-represented litigants may not know the rules of civil procedure and evidence, and this is a challenge for the court because not only must justice be done, but it also must be seen to be done. Aboriginal litigants who are also self-represented also bring a historical and cultural perspective that can add further to the complexity. The spectrum involves those who have challenges with legal language and concepts to those who deny the jurisdiction and authority of the court.

CPD: 1 hour including 1 hour in client relations, ethics and professional responsibility.

Seating is limited to 30!

Cost:

Single Seat Rate: $52.50 CAD
